Chapter 2. Understanding the GlassFish Server Architecture

In this chapter, we discuss the architecture of GlassFish, and the essential tools we use to administer it. We start with an introduction to the main components of the GlassFish Server, and how their organization is manifested in the configuration files. We then explain the Java Management Extension ( JMX) based administration infrastructure of GlassFish, and introduce the essential tools we use to administer the GlassFish Server environment. The goal of this chapter is to help you get familiar with the GlassFish administration tools, and the common administrative tasks that you can perform with these tools.
